about cyprus

The island of Cyprus is situated in the NE of the Mediterranean Sea, at the geographical and historical crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa.  The ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans along with the medieval Crusaders, Venetians and Ottomans have left a powerful cultural legacy that shaped the modern Cypriots and draws visitors to the island.

Nature is bountiful and pollution free: the beaches of Cyprus bathe in crystal blue waters, orange and olive groves clad the rocky hills and pine forests, the tops of Troodos Mountains, in a scenic landscape that the mild Mediterranean climate allows us to enjoy and explore all year round.

Cyprus’ pursuit of democracy since independence and its present membership in the EU have brought about political stability and economic welfare to its 1 million people. In the last 50 years Cyprus has boosted its traditional shipping and commercial business and thrived on the 20th century economic success-stories: telecommunications, finance and tourism.
